Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, VII, 56

Let g\mathfrak{g} be a Lie algebra with a basis (x,y)(x, y) such that [x,y]=y[x, y] =y. Let k=ky\mathfrak{k}=ky, and φ:g→g/k\varphi :\mathfrak{g}\rightarrow \mathfrak{g}/\mathfrak{k} the canonical morphism. The element 0 of g/k\mathfrak{g}/\mathfrak{k} is regular in g/k\mathfrak{g}/\mathfrak{k} but is not the image under φ\varphi of a regular element of g\mathfrak{g}.
