Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter VII, § 5. Decomposable linear Lie algebras

The Cartan subalgebras of g\mathfrak{g} are the centralizers of the regular semi-simple elements of g\mathfrak{g}.

If x∈gx\in \mathfrak{g} is regular, g0(x)\mathfrak{g}^0(x) is a Cartan subalgebra of g(\mathfrak{g}(§2, no. 3, Th. 1 (i)); moreover, if xx is semi-simple g0(x)\mathfrak{g}^0(x) is the centralizer of xx in g\mathfrak{g}. Conversely, let h\mathfrak{h} be a Cartan subalgebra of g\mathfrak{g}. There exists t∈T1\mathfrak{t}\in \mathscr{T}_1 such that h=ψ(t)\mathfrak{h}=\psi (\mathfrak{t}). By §1, no. 2, Prop. 7, there exists x∈tx\in \mathfrak{t} such that h=g0(x)\mathfrak{h}=\mathfrak{g}^0(x); since x∈tx\in \mathfrak{t}, g0(x)=g0(x)\mathfrak{g}^0(x) =\mathfrak{g}_0(x). By §3, no. 3, Th. 2 (ii), xx is regular.

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
