Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter VIII, § 1. The Lie algebra sl(2, k) and its representations

The submodule of E generated by ee is the vector subspace generated by the ene_n.

This follows from the formulas (2).

The integers n≥0n\geq 0 such that en≠0e_n\not= 0 constitute an interval in N\mathbf{N}, and the corresponding elements ene_n form a basis over kk of the submodule generated by ee (indeed, they are linearly independent because they are non-zero elements of distinct weights). This basis will be said to be associated to the primitive element ee.

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
