Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter VIII, § 2. Root system of a split semi-simple Lie algebra

Let g\mathfrak{g} be a semi-simple Lie algebra. A Cartan subalgebra h\mathfrak{h} of g\mathfrak{g} is called splitting if, for all x∈hx\in \mathfrak{h}, adgx_{\mathfrak{g}}x is triangularizable. A semi-simple Lie algebra is called splittable if it has a splitting Cartan subalgebra. A split semi-simple Lie algebra is a pair (g,h)(\mathfrak{g},\mathfrak{h}) where g\mathfrak{g} is a semi-simple Lie algebra and h\mathfrak{h} is a splitting Cartan subalgebra of g\mathfrak{g}.

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
