Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, VIII, 232

a) Let g\mathfrak{g} be a simple Lie algebra, and k1k_1 the commutant of the adjoint representation of g\mathfrak{g}. Show that k1k_1 is a commutative field, a finite extension of kk, and that g\mathfrak{g} is an absolutely simple k1k_1-Lie algebra.

Conversely, if k1k_1 is a finite extension of kk, and g\mathfrak{g} an absolutely simple k1k_1-Lie algebra, then g\mathfrak{g} is a simple kk-Lie algebra, and the commutant of its adjoint representation can be identified with k1k_1.

b) Let k′k' be a Galois extension of kk containing k1k_1. Show that g(k′)\mathfrak{g}_{(k')} is a product of [k1:k][k_1:k] absolutely simple algebras. When g(k′)\mathfrak{g}_{(k')} is split, these algebras are mutually isomorphic. (Use Exerc. 4.)
