Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter VIII, § 5. Automorphisms of a semi-simple Lie algebra

Assume that kk is R,C\mathbf{R},\mathbf{C} or a non-discrete complete ultrametric field. Let h\mathfrak{h} be a splitting Cartan subalgebra of g\mathfrak{g}.

(i) Aut(g,h\mathfrak{g},\mathfrak{h}) is a Lie subgroup of Aut(g\mathfrak{g}) with Lie algebra adh\mathfrak{h}.

(ii) f(TQ)f(T_Q) and (q∘f)(TP)(q\circ f)(T_P) are open subgroups of Aut(g,h\mathfrak{g},\mathfrak{h}).

(iii) Aute(g)_e(\mathfrak{g}) is an open subgroup of Aut(g\mathfrak{g}).

(iv) If k=Rk=\mathbf{R} or C\mathbf{C}, Aute(g)_e(\mathfrak{g}) is the identity component of Aut(g\mathfrak{g}), in other words Int(g\mathfrak{g}).

By Chap. III, §3, no. 8, Cor. 2 of Prop. 29, and no. 10, Prop. 36, Aut(g,h\mathfrak{g},\mathfrak{h}) is a Lie subgroup of Aut(g\mathfrak{g}) whose Lie algebra is the set of ad x(x∈g)x(x\in \mathfrak{g}) such that (ad xx)h⊂h\mathfrak{h}\subset \mathfrak{h}, in other words adh\mathfrak{h}.

Let H∈hH\in \mathfrak{h}. There exists ε>0\varepsilon >0 with the following properties: for t∈kt\in k and ∣t∣<ε|t|< \varepsilon, exp(tγ(H)t\gamma (H)) is defined for all γ∈P(R)\gamma \in P(R), and the map γ→\gamma \rightarrow exp(tγ(H)t\gamma (H)) is a homomorphism σt\sigma_t from P(R) to k∗k^*. For ∣t∣<ε|t|< \varepsilon, exp(tt ad H) is defined, induces the identity on h\mathfrak{h} and induces on gα\mathfrak{g}^{\alpha} the homothety with ratio σt(α)\sigma_t(\alpha ); hence exp tt ad H∈(q∘f)(TP)H\in (q\circ f)(T_P). This proves, in view of (i), that (q∘f)(TP)(q\circ f)(T_P) contains a neighbourhood of 1 in Aut(g,h\mathfrak{g},\mathfrak{h}), and consequently is an open subgroup of Aut(g,h\mathfrak{g},\mathfrak{h}). A fortiori,f(TQ),f(T_Q) is an open subgroup of Aut(g,h\mathfrak{g},\mathfrak{h}).

For all α∈R\alpha \in R, exp ad gα⊂\mathfrak{g}^{\alpha}\subset Aute(g)_e(\mathfrak{g}). In view of (ii), Aute(g)_e(\mathfrak{g}) contains a neighbourhood of 1 in Aut(g\mathfrak{g}), which proves (iii).

Assume that k=Rk=\mathbf{R} or C\mathbf{C}. Then Aute(g)_e(\mathfrak{g}) is contained in the identity component C of Aut(g\mathfrak{g}) (Chap. VII, §3, no. 1), and is open in Aut(g\mathfrak{g}) by (iii). Thus Aute(g)=C_e(\mathfrak{g}) = C. Finally, C = Int(g\mathfrak{g}) by Chap. III, §9, no. 8, Prop. 30 (i).

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
