Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter VIII, § 7. Finite dimensional modules over a split semi-simple Lie algebra

Let ρ\rho be a finite dimensional representation of g\mathfrak{g} and Φ\Phi the bilinear form associated to ρ\rho.

(i) If x,y∈hQx, y\in \mathfrak{h}_{\mathbf{Q}}, then Φ(x,y)∈Q\Phi (x, y)\in \mathbf{Q} and Φ(x,x)∈Q+\Phi (x, x)\in \mathbf{Q}_+.

(ii) If ρ\rho is injective, the restriction of Φ\Phi to h\mathfrak{h} is non-degenerate.

Assertion (i) follows from Prop. 1 since the elements of P have rational values on hQ\mathfrak{h}_{\mathbf{Q}}. If ρ\rho is injective, Φ\Phi is non-degenerate (Chap. I, §6, no. 1, Prop. 1), so the restriction of Φ\Phi to h\mathfrak{h} is non-degenerate (Chap. VII, §1, no. 3, Prop. 10 (iii)).

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
