A is a graded polynomial algebra if and only if P is finite dimensional and gg is bijective.

If P is finite dimensional, S(P)\mathbf{S}(P) is clearly a graded polynomial algebra, and so is A if gg is bijective. Conversely, assume that A is generated by algebraically independent homogeneous elements x1,...,xmx_1, . . . , x_m of degrees d1,...,dmd_1, . . . , d_m. Let x‾i\overline{x}_i be the image of xix_i in P. It is immediate that the x‾i\overline{x}_i form a basis of P; since x‾i\overline{x}_i is of degree did_i, it follows that S(P)\mathbf{S}(P) and A are isomorphic; in particular, dim S(P)n=\mathbf{S}(P)^n= dim AnA^n for all nn. Since gg is surjective, it is necessarily bijective.

Lemma 4 is now immediate. Indeed, Lemma 5, applied to the k′k'-algebra A′A', shows that g⊗1:S(P)⊗k′→A⊗k′g\otimes 1 :\mathbf{S}(P)\otimes k'\rightarrow A\otimes k' is bijective, and hence so is gg.

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
