Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter VIII, § 11. Classes of nilpotent elements and sl2 -triplets

Assume that g\mathfrak{g} is semi-simple. Let (x,h,y)(x, h, y) be an sl2\mathfrak{s}\mathfrak{l}_2-triplet in g\mathfrak{g}. The following conditions are equivalent:

(i) xx is principal;

(ii) hh is principal;

(iii) (x,h,y)(x, h, y) is principal.

For p∈Zp\in \mathbf{Z}, let gp=\mathfrak{g}^p= Ker(ad h−ph-p). Let g′=∑p∈Zg2p\mathfrak{g}'=\sum_{p\in\mathbf{Z}}\mathfrak{g}^{2p}. If g\mathfrak{g} is considered as

a module over a=kx+kh+ky,g′\mathfrak{a}=kx+kh+ky,\mathfrak{g}' is the sum of the simple submodules of odd dimension (§1, no. 2, Cor. of Prop. 2). Let ll (resp. l′l') be the length of g\mathfrak{g} (resp. g′\mathfrak{g}') considered as an a\mathfrak{a}-module. By §1, no. 2,

dim(Ker ad xx) =l≥l′==l\geq l'= dim(Ker ad hh)≥\geq rk(g\mathfrak{g}).

The equivalence of (i) and (iii) follows immediately. On the other hand, condition (ii) means that dim(Ker ad hh) == rk(g\mathfrak{g}) and g′=g\mathfrak{g}'=\mathfrak{g}, in other words that

dim(Ker ad hh) == rk(g\mathfrak{g}) and l=l′l=l'. The equivalence of (ii) and the other conditions follows.

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
