Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, VIII, 266

Let SS be the square matrix of order nn

0 0 ⋯\cdots 0 1

0 0 ⋯\cdots 1 0

(δi,n+1−i)=(\delta_{i,n+1-i}) = ... ... . .. ... ....

0 1 ⋯\cdots 0 0

1 0 ⋯\cdots 0 0

The elements of oS(n,k)\mathfrak{o}_S(n, k) are the matrices (aij)(a_{ij}) that are anti-symmetric with respect to the second diagonal:

ai,j=−an+1−j,n+1−ia_{i,j}=-a_{n+1-j,n+1-i} for every pair (i,j)(i, j).

The algebra oS(n,k)\mathfrak{o}_S(n, k) is splittable simple of type Dn/2D_{n/2} if nn is even and ≥6\geq 6, and of type B(n−1)/2B_{(n-1)/2} if nn is odd and ≥5\geq 5. The diagonal (resp. upper triangular) elements of oS(n,k)\mathfrak{o}_S(n, k) form a splitting Cartan (resp. Borel) subalgebra.
