Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, IX, 412

Denote by m:G×G→Gm: G\times G\rightarrow G the map such that m(g,h)=ghm(g, h) =gh for g,hg, h in G. Identify H(G×G)H(G\times G) with H(G)g⊗H(G)H(G)^g\otimes H(G) (Exerc. 7b7b))), so that m∗m^* defines a homomorphism of algebras c:H(G)→H(G)g⊗H(G)c: H(G)\rightarrow H(G)^g\otimes H(G).

a) Show that (H(G),c)(H(G), c) is an anti-commutative and anti-cocommutative graded left bigebra (observe that the map g→g−1g \rightarrow g^{-1} induces on Hp(G)H^p(G) the multiplication by (−1)p(-1)^p). b) Let P(G) be the graded subspace of H(G) consisting of the primitive elements; deduce from Exerc. 8 that there is an isomorphism of graded bigebras ∧∧(P(G))→H(G)\wedge \wedge (P(G))\rightarrow H(G).

c) Show that dimRP(G)=r_{\mathbf{R}}P(G) =r (use Exerc. 6b6b))).

d) Deduce that the polynomial ∑i≥0bi(G)Xi\sum_{i\geq 0}b_i(G)X^i is of the form

(1+X)c∏i=1l(1+X2ki+1) (1 + X)^c\prod_{i=1}^l(1 + X^{2k_i+1})

where cc is the dimension of C(G),lC(G),l the rank of D(G), and the kik_i are integers ≥1\geq 1; we have k1+⋯+kl=12k_1+\cdots +k_l=\frac{1}{2}Card R(G,T)12R(G,T)^{12}.
