Let mm be an integer >0>0, S\mathbf{S} the graded algebra k[X1,…,Xm]k[X_1,\ldots,X_m], and a1,…,ama_1,\ldots,a_m elements of k∗k^*. Let Φ=∑i,j=1maijXiXj\Phi=\displaystyle\sum_{i,j=1}^{m}a_{ij}X_iX_j be a quadratic form; put

Di=∂∂XiandD=∑i,j=1mbijDiDj D_i=\frac{\partial}{\partial X_i} \qquad\text{and}\qquad D=\sum_{i,j=1}^{m}b_{ij}D_iD_j

where (bij)(b_{ij}) is the inverse matrix of (aij)(a_{ij}). a) Show that there exists a unique s\mathfrak{s}-module structure on S\mathbf{S} such that X+f=X_+f= 12D(f),X−f=12Φf\frac{1}{2}D(f), X_-f=\frac{1}{2}\Phi f and Hf=−(m/2+n)fHf=-(m/2 +n)f if ff is homogeneous of degree nn. b) Put An=Sn∩A^n=\mathbf{S}^n\cap Ker(D). Show that Sn\mathbf{S}^n is the direct sum of the subspaces Φp.Aq\Phi^p.A^q for 2p+q=n2p+q=n. Deduce the identity

∑n=0∞\sum_{n=0}^{\infty} dim(An^n)Tn=(1+T)/(1−T)m−1T^n= (1 + T)/(1-T)^{m-1}.

c) If ff is a non-zero element of AnA^n, the Φpf,p≥0\Phi^pf,p\geq 0, form a basis of a simple s\mathfrak{s}-submodule of S\mathbf{S}, isomorphic to the module Z(−m2−n)Z(-\frac{m}{2}-n) of Exerc. 2.

d) Make the cases m=1m= 1 and m=2m= 2 explicit. Use the case m=3m= 3 to recover the results of Exerc. 9.
