Bourbaki marks this one as harder than the rest.
We retain the notations of the preceding exercise. Show that, for all , the algebra has a unique two-sided ideal such that is a central simple algebra of dimension (extend scalars to reduce to the case in which and show that is then the kernel of the homomorphism End(V())). Every two-sided ideal of of finite codimension is of the form , where are distinct; its codimension is (apply the density theorem). The are the only maximal two-sided ideals of of finite codimension.
Show that is generated (as a two-sided ideal) by the elements , and that the quotient can be identified with the quaternion algebra A of Exerc. 16.
When is isomorphic to is isomorphic to . Show that, when is not isomorphic to is isomorphic to if and only if is odd (use Exerc. )
It can be shown that, when is even, is isomorphic to .
