Topologie algébrique, chapter I, § 1. Produits fibrés et carrés cartésiens

Let X, Y and Z be topological spaces. Let f:X→Yf: X\rightarrow Y be a continuous surjective mapping and g:Y→Zg: Y\rightarrow Z a mapping.

a) If ff is strict and if g∘fg\circ f is continuous, the mapping gg is continuous.

b) If gg is continuous and if g∘fg\circ f is strict, the mapping gg is strict.

c) If ff and g∘fg\circ f are strict, gg is strict.

Let us prove assertion a). Let R denote the relation associated with ff in X; by hypothesis, the mapping of X/RX/R onto Y deduced from ff by passing to the quotient is a homeomorphism. The first assertion then follows from prop. 6 of I, p. 21.

Let us prove b). Let B be a closed saturated subset of Y for the relation defined by gg and let A=f−1(B)A =\overset{-1}{f}(B). Since ff is continuous, A is closed in X, and A is saturated for the equivalence relation defined by g∘fg\circ f. Since g∘fg\circ f is strict and ff is surjective, g(B)=g∘f(A)g(B) =g\circ f(A) is therefore closed in Z. The continuous mapping gg is therefore strict.

Assertion c) results immediately from assertions a) and b).

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
