Topologie algébrique, chapter III, § 3. Groupoïde de Poincaré

Let X be a topological space and let x,y,zx,y,z be points of X. The mapping (c,d)↦c∗d(c, d)\mapsto c*d of Λx,y(X)×Λy,z(X)\Lambda_{x,y}(X)\times \Lambda_{y,z}(X) into Λx,z(X)\Lambda_{x,z}(X) is continuous (III, p. 258, corollary of Prop. 2). It should be noted that the composition mapping ϖx,y(X)×ϖy,z(X)→ϖx,z(X)\varpi_{x,y}(X)\times \varpi_{y,z}(X)\rightarrow \varpi_{x,z}(X) deduced from it is not necessarily continuous when the sets ϖx,y(X),ϖy,z(X)\varpi_{x,y}(X),\varpi_{y,z}(X) and ϖx,z(X)\varpi_{x,z}(X) are endowed with the quotient topologies (cf. TG, I, p. 35 and III, p. 259). However, for every γ0∈ϖx,y(X)\gamma_0\in \varpi_{x,y}(X) and every δ0∈ϖy,z(X)\delta_0\in \varpi_{y,z}(X), the partial mappings γ↦γδ0\gamma \mapsto \gamma \delta_0 of ϖx,y(X)\varpi_{x,y}(X) into ϖx,z(X)\varpi_{x,z}(X) and δ↦γ0δ\delta \mapsto \gamma_0\delta of ϖy,z(X)\varpi_{y,z}(X) into ϖx,z(X)\varpi_{x,z}(X) are homeomorphisms. In fact, let c0∈Λx,y(X)c_0\in \Lambda_{x,y}(X) be a path of class γ0\gamma_0. The mapping d↦c0∗dd\mapsto c_0*d is a continuous mapping of Λy,z(X)\Lambda_{y,z}(X) into Λx,z(X)\Lambda_{x,z}(X). The mapping δ↦γ0δ\delta \mapsto \gamma_0\delta is deduced from it by passing to quotients, and is therefore continuous. The same holds for the mapping δ′↦γ0−1δ′\delta '\mapsto \gamma_0^{-1}\delta ' of ϖx,z(X)\varpi_{x,z}(X) into ϖy,z(X)\varpi_{y,z}(X). Since these two mappings are inverse to one another, they are homeomorphisms. One reasons analogously for the mapping γ↦γδ0\gamma \mapsto \gamma \delta_0. See also IV, p. 374.

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
