Topologie algébrique, chapter IV, § 5. Théorème de van Kampen

If the groups π1(X,a)\pi_1(X, a) and π1(A,a)\pi_1(A, a) are trivial, the same is true of the groups π1(B,a)\pi_1(B, a) and π1(C,a)\pi_1(C, a).

By corollary 2, the set A is arcwise connected. The group π1(X,a)\pi_1(X, a) is therefore isomorphic to the free product of the groups π1(B,a)\pi_1(B, a) and π1(C,a)\pi_1(C, a). In particular it contains subgroups isomorphic to the groups π1(B,a)\pi_1(B, a) and π1(C,a)\pi_1(C, a) (A, I, p. 83). These two groups are therefore trivial if π1(X,a)\pi_1(X, a) is.

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
