Théories spectrales, chapter I, § 2. Algèbres normées

Let A be a unital Banach algebra and let x∈Ax\in A. By Theorem 1 of I, p. 24,C−,\mathbf{C}- SpA(x)_A(x) is an open subset of C\mathbf{C}, hence is locally connected. Therefore the connected components of C−\mathbf{C}- SpA(x)_A(x) are open. By Theorem 1, one of these connected components contains the set of λ∈C\lambda \in \mathbf{C} such that ∣λ∣>ϱ(x)|\lambda |> \varrho (x); all the other connected components are therefore bounded.

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
