Théories spectrales, chapter I, § 6. Algèbres stellaires

The mapping evx:χ↦χ(x)_x:\chi \mapsto \chi (x) induces a homeomorphism of X(B)\mathsf{X}(B) onto SpA(x)_A(x).

The mapping x↦χ(x)x\mapsto \chi (x) of X(B)\mathsf{X}(B) into C\mathbf{C} is continuous, and its image is equal to SpB(x)_B(x) by prop. 6 of I, p. 37, hence to SpA(x)_A(x). Since the characters of B are Hermitian (lemma 9 of I, p. 107), characters of B which coincide at xx are also equal at x∗x^*, hence are equal on the unital star-subalgebra B generated by xx. This proves that the mapping evx_x is injective. Since X(B)\mathsf{X}(B) is compact and C\mathbf{C} is separated, it induces a homeomorphism of X(B)\mathsf{X}(B) onto its image, whence the lemma.

From the lemma one deduces an isomorphism of star-algebras φx:C\varphi_x:\mathscr{C}(SpA(x)_A(x))→C(X(B))\rightarrow \mathscr{C}(\mathsf{X}(B)). It carries a function f∈Cf\in \mathscr{C} (SpA(x)_A(x)) to the function χ↦f(χ(x))\chi \mapsto f(\chi (x)). The mapping GB−1∘φx\mathscr{G}_B^{-1}\circ \varphi_x is an isomorphism of the star-algebra C\mathscr{C}(SpA(x)_A(x)) onto B.

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
