Théories spectrales, chapter I, § 6. Algèbres stellaires

Let A be a stellar algebra and let I be a closed two-sided ideal of A. Then I is self-adjoint.

Let J=I∩I∗J = I\cap I^*. The set J is a self-adjoint two-sided ideal of A, which contains I∗II^*I. In particular, J is a stellar algebra. Let F\mathfrak{F} be an increasing approximate unit of J (Prop. 18 of I, p. 121). For every x∈Ix\in I and every f∈J+⩽1f\in J^{\leqslant 1}_+, one has

∥xf−x∥2=∥(xf−x)∗(xf−x)∥=∥f(x∗xf−x∗x)−(x∗xf−x∗x)∥ \|xf-x\|^2=\|(xf-x)^*(xf-x)\|=\|f(x^*xf-x^*x)-(x^*xf-x^*x)\|
⩽2∥x∗xf−x∗x∥ \leqslant 2\|x^*xf-x^*x\|

Since x∗x∈Jx^*x\in J, one has therefore

limf,F∥xf−x∥2=0_{f,\mathfrak{F}}\|xf-x\|^2= 0.

Since xf∈Jxf\in J for every f∈J+⩽1f\in J^{\leqslant 1}_+ and since J is closed, this implies that x∈Jx\in J. Hence I = J, and the ideal I is self-adjoint.

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
