Théories spectrales, chapter III, § 1. Applications linéaires compactes

Let E be a semi-normed space, E′E' its dual, B the unit ball of E′E' and uu a linear mapping of E′E' into a locally convex separated space F. If the restriction of uu to B endowed with the topology induced by σ(E′,E)\sigma (E',E) is continuous, then u(B)u(B) is a compact subset of F and uu is a compact linear mapping of the strong dual Eb′E'_b of E into F.

Indeed the set B, endowed with the topology induced by σ(E′,E)\sigma (E',E), is compact (EVT, III, p. 17, cor. 2).

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
