Théories spectrales, chapter III, § 4. Perturbations dans les espaces de Banach
Let E be a Banach space and a Riesz endomorphism of E. Let N (resp. I) be the nilspace (resp. the conilspace) of . Let us denote by the dimension of N. There exist an open neighbourhood U of in and an analytic mapping such that
(i) The endomorphism is the projector with image N and kernel I;
(ii) For every , the linear mapping is a projector of rank belonging to the bicommutant of and, in particular, commuting with . Moreover, induces an automorphism of Ker();
(iii) Every element of U is a Riesz endomorphism whose nilspace has dimension .
If K = , let Sp() denote the spectrum of relative to the algebra . When K = , let Sp() denote the complex spectrum Sp of I, p. 85, n). By prop. 14 of III, p. 54, the point 0 is isolated in Sp(). Let be a real number such that every element of Sp() has modulus . Let V denote the open set in consisting of the complex numbers of absolute value ; let be the holomorphic function on V defined by if and if . If (resp. ), let denote the set of elements of whose spectrum (resp. whose complex spectrum) is contained in V. The set is an open neighbourhood of in and the mapping of into is holomorphic (I, p. 76, prop. 10 and I, p. 85, n).
Let . The endomorphism is the spectral projector ; it commutes with , and induces by passing to the subspaces an automorphism of Ker() cf. III, p. 53, n).
The projector has image N and kernel I (III, p. 54, prop. 14); its rank is . By lemma 1, the set U of elements such that is of rank is an open neighbourhood of . The set U and the mapping of U into satisfy conditions (i) and (ii) of the proposition.
Let . Since induces an automorphism of Ker(), which is a closed subspace of finite codimension of E, the endomorphism is a Riesz endomorphism of E (III, p. 48, prop. 8), the nilspace of is contained in the image of , and is of dimension .
Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
