Théories spectrales, chapter III, § 6. Propriétés spectrales des endomorphismes des espaces de Banach

Let E be a complete normable space and uu an endomorphism of E. For every n∈Z‾n\in \overline{\mathbf{Z}}, denote by Spn(u)_n(u) the set of complex numbers λ∈\lambda \in Spe(u)_e(u) such that u−λ1Eu-\lambda 1_E is a strict morphism whose kernel or cokernel is of finite dimension, and whose index is nn. Denote by Spω(u)_{\omega}(u) the complement in Spe(u)_e(u) of the union of the subsets Spn(u)_n(u) for n∈Zn\in \mathbf{Z}.

The sets Sps(u)_s(u), Spn(u)_n(u) for n∈Z‾n\in \overline{\mathbf{Z}}, and Spω(u)_{\omega}(u) form a partition of the spectrum of uu.

Every endomorphism of E whose cokernel is of finite dimension is strict (III, p. 52, Lemma 6). The Fredholm endomorphisms of E are the endomorphisms of E whose kernel and cokernel are of finite dimension (III, p. 52, Prop. 11). The set C−\mathbf{C}- Spe(u)_e(u) consists of the λ∈C\lambda \in \mathbf{C} such that u−λ1Eu-\lambda 1_E is a Riesz endomorphism of E, and such an endomorphism is a Fredholm endomorphism of E of index 0.

Consequently, for λ∈C\lambda \in \mathbf{C} and for n∈Z−{0}n\in \mathbf{Z}-\{0\}, we have:

λ∈C−\lambda \in \mathbf{C}- Sp(uu)⇐⇒u−λ1E\Leftarrow \Rightarrow u-\lambda 1_E is an automorphism ;

λ∈\lambda \in Sps(u)⇐⇒u−λ1E_s(u)\Leftarrow \Rightarrow u-\lambda 1_E is a Riesz endomorphism, but

is not an automorphism ;

λ∈\lambda \in Sp0(u)⇐⇒u−λ1E_0(u)\Leftarrow \Rightarrow u-\lambda 1_E is a Fredholm endomorphism

of index 0 of E but is not a Riesz endomorphism of E ;

λ∈\lambda \in Spn(u)⇐⇒u−λ1E_n(u)\Leftarrow \Rightarrow u-\lambda 1_E is a Fredholm endomorphism

(n≠0)(n\not = 0) of index nn of E ;

λ∈\lambda \in Sp−∞(u)⇐⇒u−λ1E_{-\infty}(u)\Leftarrow \Rightarrow u-\lambda 1_E is strict, its kernel is of dimension

infinite and its cokernel is of finite dimension ; λ∈\lambda \in Sp+∞(u)⇐⇒u−λ1E_{+\infty}(u)\Leftarrow \Rightarrow u-\lambda 1_E is strict, its kernel is of dimension

finite and its cokernel is of dimension infinite ; λ∈\lambda \in Spω(u)⇐⇒_{\omega}(u)\Leftarrow \Rightarrow either u−λ1Eu-\lambda 1_E is not strict, or its kernel

and its cokernel are of dimension infinite.

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
