Théories spectrales, chapter IV, § 4. Opérateurs partiels

Let E be a complex Banach space and uu a closed partial operator on E. One has PSpε(u)⊂_{\varepsilon}(u)\subset PSpδ(u)_{\delta}(u) if 0<ε<δ0< \varepsilon < \delta and

⋂ε∈R+∗\bigcap_{\varepsilon\in\mathbf{R}^*_+} PSpε(u)=_{\varepsilon}(u) = Sp(uu).

The first assertion results from the definition. For the second, the spectrum of uu is contained in PSpε(u)_{\varepsilon}(u) for every ε>0\varepsilon >0 by definition, and if λ∉\lambda \notin Sp(uu), then λ∉\lambda \notin PSpε(u)_{\varepsilon}(u) when ε<∥R(u,λ)∥−1\varepsilon <\|R(u, \lambda )\|^{-1}.

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
