Théories spectrales, chapter IV, § 5. Opérateurs partiels normaux et théorème spectral

Let (Ai)i∈I(A_i)_{i\in I} be a denumerable family of pairwise disjoint universally measurable subsets of Sp(uu), and let pip_i be the spectral projector of uu defined by AiA_i. The union A of the sets AiA_i is a universally measurable subset of Sp(uu), and the series ∑ipi\sum_ip_i converges to pAp_A in L(E)\mathscr{L}(E) endowed with the topology of simple convergence.

The set A is universally measurable by INT, IV, p. 177, § 5, no4^o4, cor. 2. The series ∑iφAi\sum_i\varphi_{A_i} converges simply to φA\varphi_A and its partial sums are bounded by 1. The assertion therefore results from prop. 6 of IV, p. 276.

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
