Théories spectrales, chapter IV, § 5. Opérateurs partiels normaux et théorème spectral
The mapping which associates with a positive self-adjoint operator on E the positive partial form is a bijection between the set of positive self-adjoint partial operators on E and the set of closed positive partial forms with dense domain on E. The inverse bijection associates with a positive partial form the partial operator representing .
By prop. 13, b) and 14, b), the mappings described in the statement are well-defined. Let us prove that they are inverse bijections of one another.
Let be a positive self-adjoint partial operator on E and the positive partial form associated with . Let denote the positive self-adjoint operator representing . Let dom() dom() dom(). For every dom() dom(), we have
hence belongs to the domain of and satisfies . The partial operator is therefore an extension of ; since and are self-adjoint, they are equal.
Conversely, let be a closed positive partial form with dense domain and the positive self-adjoint partial operator representing . We have dom() dom(). For and in dom(), we have
by prop. 13, a). Thus, the Hilbert spaces and both contain dom() as a dense subspace (prop. 14, a) and prop. 13, b), respectively) and for every dom(). It follows that and that (lemma 8).
Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
