Théories spectrales, chapter V, § 1. Représentations unitaires

Let ϱ\varrho be a continuous linear representation of G in a separated topological K-vector space E of finite dimension. If E is nonzero, then there exists an irreducible subrepresentation of ϱ\varrho.

Since E is finite-dimensional and nonzero, there exists a G-invariant subspace F of E which is nonzero and of minimal dimension. This subspace is closed in E and defines a subrepresentation of E; every subrepresentation of F is also a subrepresentation of E, and the representation F is therefore irreducible by minimality.

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
