Théories spectrales, chapter V, § 1. Représentations unitaires

Let ϱ\varrho be a unitary representation of a topological group G in a Hilbert space E. A closed subspace F of E is a subrepresentation of ϱ\varrho if and only if the orthogonal projector pp of E with image F is a G-morphism of ϱ\varrho into ϱ\varrho.

Suppose that F is a subrepresentation of ϱ\varrho. Let x∈Ex\in E and write x=p(x)+yx=p(x) +y where y∈F∘y\in F^{\circ}. For every gg in G, one has

ϱ(g)x=ϱ(g)(p(x))+ϱ(g)y \varrho (g)x=\varrho (g)(p(x)) +\varrho (g)y

and as ϱ(g)(p(x))\varrho (g)(p(x)) belongs to F and ϱ(g)y\varrho (g)y to F∘F^{\circ} (Prop. 3), one has p(ϱ(g)x)=ϱ(g)(p(x))p(\varrho (g)x) =\varrho (g)(p(x)). Hence pp belongs to HomG(ϱ,ϱ)_G(\varrho , \varrho ).

Conversely, if p∈p\in HomG(ϱ,ϱ)_G(\varrho , \varrho ) then 1E−p1_E-p is a G-morphism, hence F = Ker(1E−p_E-p) is a subrepresentation of ϱ\varrho.

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
