Théories spectrales, chapter V, § 2. Représentations des groupes localement compacts
Let π be an irreducible unitary representation of G in a Hilbert space E which is square-integrable modulo the center. One has
cZ(π)∫G/Z⟨x∣π(g)x′⟩⟨y∣π(g)y′⟩dνZ(g)=⟨x∣y⟩⟨x′∣y′⟩
for every (x,y,x′,y′)∈E4.
Let w denote the morphism of Prop. 7. One has
∫G/Z⟨x∣π(g)x′⟩⟨y∣π(g)y′⟩dνZ(g)=⟨fx,x′∣fy,y′⟩
and by loc. cit., it follows that
⟨fx,x′∣fy,y′⟩=cZ(π)1⟨w(x⊗x′)∣w(y⊗y′)⟩
=cZ(π)1⟨x⊗x′∣y⊗y′⟩=cZ(π)1⟨x∣y⟩E⟨x′∣y′⟩E
whence the result.
As a complement to the preceding proposition, one also has the following relations for nonisomorphic irreducible square-integrable representations.
Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
