Théories spectrales, chapter V, § 4. Représentations des groupes compacts
Let be a finite-dimensional linear representation of G in a separated topological vector space E. There exists a scalar product on E such that is a unitary representation in the Hilbert space E endowed with . In particular, is semisimple.
Since E is finite-dimensional, there exists a Hilbert space structure on E. The result follows by applying the preceding remark and corollary 2 of V, p. 392.
Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
