Théories spectrales, chapter V, § 4. Représentations des groupes compacts

Let π∈G^\pi \in \widehat{G}. The space ϱG(π)\boldsymbol{\varrho }_G(\pi ) is a subrepresentation of ϱG\boldsymbol{\varrho }_G which is isomorphic to π‾⊠π\overline{\pi}\boxtimes \pi. In particular, it is an irreducible representation of G×GG\times G.

By prop. 7 of V, p. 422 (applied with Z={e}Z =\{e\}), the space ϱG(π)\boldsymbol{\varrho }_G(\pi ) is a subrepresentation of ϱG\boldsymbol{\varrho }_G and the linear mapping from E‾π⊗Eπ\overline{E}_{\pi}\otimes E_{\pi} into L2(G)L^2(G) which associates to x⊗yx\otimes y the matrix coefficient g↦⟨x∣π(g)y⟩g\mapsto \langle x|\pi (g)y\rangle is a (G×(G\times G)-isomorphism of π‾⊠π\overline{\pi}\boxtimes \pi onto ϱG(π)\boldsymbol{\varrho }_G(\pi ). The subrepresentation ϱG(π)\boldsymbol{\varrho }_G(\pi ) is therefore irreducible (prop. 3 of V, p. 461).

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
