Théories spectrales, chapter V, § 4. Représentations des groupes compacts

Let ϱ\varrho be a continuous representation of G in a separated locally convex quasi-complete space E. The sum of the finite-dimensional subrepresentations of E is dense in E.

Let x∈Ex\in E and let U be an open neighbourhood of xx. The set of measures ν∈M(G)\nu \in \mathscr{M}(G) such that ϱ(ν)x∈U\varrho (\nu )x\in U is open in M(G)\mathscr{M}(G) for the topology of compact convergence (cf. no2^o2 of V, p. 400). It contains εe\varepsilon_e, hence it contains a measure of the form ν=f1⋅μ\nu =f_1\cdot \mu where f1∈C(G)f_1\in \mathscr{C}(G) (INT, VIII, p. 171, § 4, no7^o7, Prop. 19) and, consequently, it contains a measure of the form f2⋅μf_2\cdot \mu where f2f_2 is a G-finite function (Prop. 6 of V, p. 464 and Prop. 4 of V, p. 462).

The subrepresentation F of γG\boldsymbol{\gamma }_G generated by f2f_2 is finite-dimensional. Let F~\widetilde{F} be the image of the linear mapping f↦ϱ(f)xf\mapsto \varrho (f)x of F into E. The space F~\widetilde{F} is finite-dimensional, and it contains the element ϱ(f2)x\varrho (f_2)x of U. Since ϱ(g)ϱ(f)=ϱ(γG(g)f)\varrho (g)\varrho (f) =\varrho (\boldsymbol{\gamma }_G(g)f) for every g∈Gg\in G and every f∈Ff\in F (formula (1) of V, p. 406), the space F~\widetilde{F} is a subrepresentation of ϱ\varrho which meets U. The proposition is proved.

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
