Commutative Algebra, chapter I, § 3. Faithfully flat modules

Under the hypotheses of Proposition 8, if BB is left Noetherian (resp. Artinian), so is AA.

If (a) is a non-stationary increasing (resp. decreasing) sequence of left ideals of AA, the sequence (Ban)(\mathrm{Ba}_n) of ideals of BB is non-stationary and increasing (resp. decreasing) since ρ−1(Ban)=an\rho^{-1}(\mathrm{Ba}_n) = a_n contrary to the hypothesis.

Remark (1). If AA and BB are commutative, we shall see in Chapter II, § 2, no. 5, Corollary 4 to Proposition 11, that the hypothesis of Proposition 8 implies that for every prime ideal pp of AA, there exists a prime ideal qq of BB such that ρ−1(q)=p\rho^{-1}(q) = p (where p=A∩qp = A \cap q when AA is identified with a subring of BB).

An important application of Proposition 8 is when BB is itself a faithfully flat AA-module. But in this case we have the following more precise proposition:

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
