Commutative Algebra, chapter II, § 4. Spectra of rings and supports of modules

For a topological space XX to be Noetherian, it is necessary and sufficient that every open set in XX be quasi-compact.

To show that the condition is necessary, it is sufficient, by virtue of Proposition 8, to prove that every Noetherian space XX is quasi-compact. Let (Ui)i∈I(U_i)_{i \in I} be an open covering of XX; the set of finite unions of sets UiU_i is non-empty and hence admits a maximal element V=⋃i∈HUiV = \bigcup_{i \in H} U_i, where HH is a finite subset of II. By definition, V∪Ui=VV \cup U_i = V for all i∈Ii \in I and hence V=XV = X.

Conversely, suppose that every open set of XX is quasi-compact and let (Ui)(U_i) be an increasing sequence of open subsets of XX. The union VV of the UiU_i is open and hence quasi-compact; as (Ui)(U_i) is an open covering of VV, there is a finite subfamily of (Ui)(U_i) which is a covering of VV and hence V=UnV = U_n for some index nn, which proves that the sequence (Ui)(U_i) is stationary.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
