Commutative Algebra, chapter III, § 1. Finitely generated graded algebras

In a commutative algebra B\mathbf{B} over a commutative ring A\mathbf{A}, a family (xi)i∈I(x_i)_{i \in I} of elements of B\mathbf{B} is called algebraically free over A\mathbf{A} (or the xix_i are called algebraically independent over A\mathbf{A}) if the ideal of algebraic relations between the xix_i, with coefficients in A\mathbf{A}, is reduced to 0. A family (xi)(x_i) which is not algebraically free over A\mathbf{A} is also called algebraically related (or its elements are also called algebraically dependent over A\mathbf{A}).

This definition generalizes that given in Algebra, Chapter V, § 5, no. 1, Definition 1 for families of elements of a commutative field.

(*) Except in § 5, which uses the results of Chapter I, § 4 and therefore homological algebra, no use is made in this chapter of any books other than Books I to VI and Chapters I and II of this book.

To say that a family (xi)i∈I(x_i)_{i \in I} is algebraically free over AA amounts to the same as saying that the monomials ∏ixini\prod_i x_i^{n_i} in the xx, are linearly independent over AA; in particular the xix_i are then linearly independent over AA.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
