Commutative Algebra, chapter VII, § 4. Modules over integrally closed Noetherian domains

Let V,WV, W vector spaces of finite rank over KK, MM a lattice of VV and NN a lattice of WW. If MM is finitely generated, then (in the notation of Proposition 3):

(1)

S−1(N:M)=S−1N:S−1M S^{-1}(N : M) = S^{-1}N : S^{-1}M
in Hom⁡K(V,W)\operatorname{Hom}_K(V, W).

Clearly the left hand side of (1) is contained in the right hand side. Conversely, let f∈S−1N:S−1Mf \in S^{-1}N : S^{-1}M and let (xi)1≤i≤n(x_i)_{1 \leq i \leq n} be a system of generators of MM. There exists s∈Ss \in S such that f(xi)∈s−1Nf(x_i) \in s^{-1}N for all ii and hence sf∈N:Msf \in N : M, which proves the proposition.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
