Algebra, chapter I, § 4. Groups and groups with operators

Let f:G→Hf:G\to H be a homomorphism of groups with operators, NN its kernel, XX a subset of GG such that f(X)f(X) generates HH and YY a subset of NN which generates NN. Then X∪YX\cup Y generates NN.

Let G′G' be the stable subgroup of GG generated by X∪YX\cup Y. As Y⊂G′Y\subset G', N⊂G′N\subset G'.

As f(X)⊂f(G′)f(X)\subset f(G'), f(G′)=Hf(G')=H, whence G′=f−1(H)=GG'=f^{-1}(H)=G.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
