Algebra, chapter I, § 8. Rings

Let AA be a ring and aa a left ideal of AA distinct from AA. There exists a maximal ideal mm of AA containing aa.

Consider AA as operating on the additive group A+A^+ of AA by left multiplication. Then the left ideals of AA are the stable subgroups of A+A^+. The theorem thus follows from § 4, no. 3, Proposition 3 applied to the subset P={1}P = \{1\} of A+A^+.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
