Algebra, chapter II, § 1. Modules

If a family (Mi)i∈I(M_i)_{i \in I} of submodules of EE has intersection reduced to 00 E is canonically isomorphic to a submodule of ∏i∈I(E/Mi)\prod_{i \in I} (E / M_i).

Given a subset XX of an AA-module EE, the intersection FF of the submodules of EE containing XX is called the submodule generated by XX and XX is called a generating set (or generating system) of FF (I, § 4, no. 3); for a family (ai)i∈I(a_i)_{i \in I} of elements of EE, the submodule generated by the set of aia_i is called the submodule generated by the family (ai)(a_i).

An AA-module is called finitely generated if it has a finite generating set.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
