Algebra, chapter II, § 1. Modules

If u(x)=0u(x) = 0 for all x∈Sx \in S, then also u(x)=0u(x) = 0 for all x∈Mx \in M. We shall sometimes refer to this result as the "principle of extension of linear identities" or "principle of extension by linearity".

In particular, to verify that a linear mapping u:E→Fu : E \to F is of the form v∘ϕv \circ \phi, where v:E/M→Fv : E / M \to F is linear and ϕ:E→E/M\phi : E \to E / M is the canonical projection, it suffices to verify that u(S)=0u(S) = 0.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
