Algebra, chapter II, § 2. Modules of linear mappings. Duality

Let M be a submodule of an A-module E and ϕ:E→E/M\phi : E \to E/M the canonical homomorphism. Then tϕ{}^t \phi is an isomorphism of the dual of E/ME/M onto the submodule M′M' of E∗E^* orthogonal to MM.

If j:M→Ej : M \to E is the canonical injection, the kernel of tj{}^t j is by definition the orthogonal of MM in E∗E^*.

Moreover, in the notation of the corollary, an injective homomorphism E∗/M′→M∗E^*/M' \to M^* is obtained from tj{}^t j when passing to the quotient.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
