Algebra, chapter II, § 6. Inverse and direct limits of modules

Let (Eα,fβα)(E_\alpha, f_{\beta \alpha}) be a direct system of AαA_\alpha*-modules, E=lim⁡→EαE = \lim \to E_\alpha its direct limit and ϕα:Aα→A\phi_\alpha : A_\alpha \to A and fα:Eα→Ef_\alpha : E_\alpha \to E the canonical mappings for all α∈I\alpha \in I. If, for all α∈I\alpha \in I, SαS_\alpha is a generating system of EαE_\alpha, then S=⋃α∈Ifα(Sα)S = \bigcup_{\alpha \in I} f_\alpha(S_\alpha) is a generating system of EE.

Every x∈Ex \in E is of the form fα(xα)f_\alpha(x_\alpha) for some α∈I\alpha \in I and some xα∈Eαx_\alpha \in E_\alpha and by hypothesis x=∑iλα(i)yα(i)x = \sum_i \lambda^{(i)}_\alpha y^{(i)}_\alpha, where λα(i)∈Aα\lambda^{(i)}_\alpha \in A_\alpha and yα(i)∈Sαy^{(i)}_\alpha \in S_\alpha; writing λ(i)=ϕα(λα(i))\lambda^{(i)} = \phi_\alpha(\lambda^{(i)}_\alpha), y(i)=fα(yα(i))y^{(i)} = f_\alpha(y^{(i)}_\alpha), we obtain x=∑iλ(i)y(i)x = \sum_i \lambda^{(i)} y^{(i)}.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
