Algebra, chapter II, § 11. Graded modules and rings

Let AA be a graded ring of type Δ\Delta. If every element of Δ\Delta is cancellable, then, for every homogeneous element a∈Aa \in A, the centralizer of aa in AA (I, § 1, no. 5) is a graded subring of AA.

Suppose that aa is of degree δ\delta; let b=∑λbλb = \sum_\lambda b_\lambda be an element permutable with aa, bλb_\lambda being the homogeneous component of bb of degree λ\lambda for all λ∈Δ\lambda \in \Delta. Then by hypothesis ∑λ(abλ−bλa)=0\sum_\lambda (ab_\lambda - b_\lambda a) = 0 and abλ−bλaab_\lambda - b_\lambda a is homogeneous of degree λ+δ\lambda + \delta; as δ\delta is cancellable, it follows that abλ=bλaab_\lambda = b_\lambda a for all λ\lambda, which proves our assertion.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
