Algebra, chapter III, § 5. Tensor algebra. Tensors

For every module MM over a commutative ring AA, the tensor algebra of MM, denoted by T(M)T(M), or Tens(M)\mathrm{Tens}(M), or TA(M)T_A(M), is the algebra ⨁n≥0Tn(M)\bigoplus_{n \geq 0} T^n(M) with the multiplication defined in (1). The canonical injection ϕ:T1(M)→T(M)\phi : T^1(M) \to T(M) (II, § 1, no. 12) (also denoted by ϕM\phi_M) is called the canonical injection of MM into T(M)T(M).

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
