Algebra, chapter IV, § 6. Symmetric functions

— Let AA be a field, and let ff be a non-constant polynomial in A[X]A[X]. For ff and DfDf to be relatively prime, it is necessary and sufficient that dis(f)≠0\mathrm{dis}(f) \neq 0. This follows from Prop. 11, (iii) and Cor. 2 of IV, p. 78.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
