Algebra, V, p. 24, § 5. p-radical extensions

Let E be an extension of a field K and x a p-radical element of height e over K; put a=xpea = x^{p^e}. Then a∈Ka \in K and the minimal polynomial of x over K is Xpe−aX^{p^e} - a: Further we have [K(x):K]=pe[K(x):K] = p^e.

It suffices to prove that the polynomial Xpe−aX^{p^e} - a is irreducible in K[X]K[X]. By the definition of height of x we have a∉Kpa \notin K^p, so that the proposition follows from the lemma:

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
