For every Galois extension of finite degree L of K, the homomorphism kL is bijective.
Let 0∈L∗ be such that 0n∈K and the residue class of 0nmodK∗n belongs to the kernel of kL. For every σ∈Gal(L/K) we have by definition σ(θ)=0; hence 0∈K∗ and θn∈K∗n. This proves the injectivity of kL. Now let f:Gal(L/K)→μn(K) be a homomorphism; for all σ,τ∈Gal(L/K) we have
f(στ)=f(σ)f(τ)=f(σ)⋅σf(τ),f(σ)n=1.
By V, p. 65, Cor. 1 there exists 0∈L∗ such that f(σ)=σ(θ)/θ for all σ∈Gal(L/K); since f(σ)n=1, we have σ(θn)=0n for all σ∈Gal(L/K), hence 0n∈K∗; if a is the residue class of θnmodK∗n, we have by definition f(σ)=⟨σ,a⟩ for σ∈Gal(L/K), hence f=kL(a).
Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
