Algebra, chapter V, § 14. Transcendental extensions

— Let Ω\Omega be an algebraically closed extension of a field KK, EE and FF two subextensions of Ω\Omega and uu a KK-isomorphism of EE onto FF. If the transcendence degree of EE over KK is finite (in particular if EE is algebraic over KK) then there exists a KK-automorphism of Ω\Omega extending uu.

Let us denote by n,d(E)n, d(E) and d(F)d(F) the transcendence degrees of EE over KK, of OO over EE and of C?C? over FF respectively. The existence of the KK-isomorphism uu shows that the transcendence degree of FF over KK is equal to nn. By the Cor. of Th. 4 the transcendence degree of Ω\Omega over KK is equal to d(E)+nd(E) + n and also to d(F)+nd(F) + n. Therefore (EE, III, p. 28, Prop. 8) we have d(E)=d(F)d(E) = d(F) and we can apply Prop. 8.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
