Algebra, chapter VI, § 1. Ordered groups. Divisibility

— For any integer n≥0n \geq 0 we have (nx)+=nx+(nx)^+ = nx^+ and (nx)−=nx−(nx)^- = nx^-; for all n∈Zn \in \mathbf{Z} we have ∣nx∣=∣n∣⋅∣x∣|nx| = |n| \cdot |x|. Indeed nx=nx+−nx−nx = nx^+ - nx^-; since x+x^+ and x are coprime, so are nx+nx^+ and nx−nx^- if n≥0n \geq 0 (Cor. 4); the first assertion follows by Prop. 9 b) of VI, p. 12. The second follows from the first by Prop. 9 d) in the case n≥0n \geq 0; the case n<0n < 0 follows from this as a result of the relation ∣−x∣=∣x∣|-x| = |x|.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
