Algebra, VII, p. 7, § 2. Torsion modules over a principal ideal domain

Let π\pi be an irreducible element of a principal ideal domain A; an A-module M is called rr-primary if, for all x∈Mx \in M, there exists an integer n≥1n \geq 1 such that πnx=0\pi^n x = 0 (in other words, if M is equal to the submodule MπM_\pi).

Clearly every cyclic module of the form A/(πs)A/(\pi^s) is rr-primary. For an arbitrary A-module M, the submodule MπM_\pi is rr-primary.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
