Topological Vector Spaces, chapter II, § 1. Semi-norms

— Suppose that T,T′\mathscr{T}, \mathscr{T}' are two topologies on a vector space EE over KK defined, respectively, by two sets of semi-norms Γ\Gamma and Γ′\Gamma'. T\mathscr{T} is finer than T′\mathscr{T}' if, and only if, for every semi-norm q∈Γ′q \in \Gamma', there exists a finite family (pi)1≤i≤n(p_i)_{1 \leq i \leq n} of semi-norms belonging to Γ\Gamma and a number a>0a > 0 such that, for all x∈Ex \in E, we have q(x)≤a⋅sup⁡1≤i≤npi(x)q(x) \leq a \cdot \sup_{1 \leq i \leq n} p_i(x).

In fact this shows that the identity mapping of EE with topology T\mathscr{T}, on EE with topology T′\mathscr{T}', is continuous.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
